Pranayama - A Way to Spirituality with Sri.OP Tiwari
and Ashtanga
yoga with Paul
(Qualify for the 500 hour advanced training)
One of the most recognised and accomplished masters
of yoga, its practice and meaning. He comes to us humbly,
not trying to prove anything, but just to sincerely
pass on the thought and practice as it has been done
by adepts over the centuries, and done so with integrity
where the practice bears fruit. He is a part of this
living tradition and carries this energy with him as
he lives and practices it.
This course is for experienced practitioners,
those who have completed past courses here
or elsewhere and are not new to pranayama. We
are not able to accept any beginners at this level.
We understand some of you may have started pranayama with us in
the past and then been unable to keep it up and are now looking
to reestablish the practice. This
is an adequate level also for this course.
This “course” will touch a new level of study and practice. It
is an intensive practice and internalising period. The primary focus will
be pranayama practice with indepth pulse reading of each student, varying as
is needed. This coupled with practice of Pranava (OM) and mantra (most
likely Gayatri mantra recitation). The ashtanga asana practice will continue
with Paul, Neil and team. There will also be regular tratak practice with
Tiwariji. Most emphasis will be laid upon the food and students on this
program will be requested to not eat outside at all during the course time. The
main meal will be lunch with a very light dinner, primarily soup. This
is essential in order to go deeper and to observe prana. Time in front
of Tiwari will be more like satsang where all questions on practice and philosophy
are open rather than follow a particular course. In essence it is more
in line with traditional ongoing and deeper study with the teacher – practices
and discussion, awareness on use of personal energy with particular attention
to food taken.
Preparation by students should be to improve their practice of kapalabhati.
This is an ideal and recommended course for all continuing students. 100
hour credit is still given for continuing studies with Yoga Alliance, etc.

About Tiwariji
Sri O. P. Tiwari (Tiwariji) has dedicated his
life to the practice and teaching of yoga. For the past
forty years he has been head of the Kaivalyadham, a
yogic research institute near Bombay, India. This was
established by his master, Swami Kuvalayananda, in 1924
and has been a pioneer in the field of yogic studies
and scientific research findings. Tiwariji was taught
in depth by his master accomplishing all the practices.
This leaves him in a rare place of having the practical
experience followed by the deep philosophical and scientific
understanding. He is one of the few remaining masters
of pranayama in the world today. He was taught by his
master as has been taught for millenia and has tasted
its fruit.
He wears no badge and waves no flag, is not interested
in propagating his name. He is joining us here in a
rare visit to purely pass on the teachings to those
sincerely interested. Besides these sessions he remains
in private practice in India, quiet and humble.
Join us and make the most of the opportunity.
