One morning in August 2006, Govinda Kai, long
term ashtanga practitioner and teacher, finished his practice
and indulged in his other great love, photography, to snap
shots as I did my practice. Here below, doing the second
series, formally known as the intermediate series of the ashtanga
yoga practice taught by Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois. Not all
the poses are caught as it was a casual photo session and
not planned for anything. Please also note that it is
based on years of practice and learning it. Thus it
is presented here for one to see not to copy. Nothing
can replace being taught, learning and practicing for a long
period of time. It goes through your entire nervous
system and has a positive effect on your behaviour, presuming
you practice with dedication, humility, grace, love and respect
over the years. Never push it as it comes back on you
even harder. At the least, may the photos here present
a candid practice shot and perhaps stimulate some motivation
to learn or further your practice yourself. My full
thanks to Govindai for his artistry.
