Why be cramped inside a small urban studio, or struggle to fit in a 200-hour training course over a series of weekend sessions?
Sometimes, while we are going through a training course, we are just focused on getting through it, on fitting everything into our already overflowing lives. It is so easy to focus on the piece of paper that we get at the end, on the end result. Unfortunately, this is the nature of life. We lose sight of the fact that the most important part of the process is the process itself. In fact, that is all that is real.
Sometimes it is impossible to take a month out of our lives to immerse ourselves into training, teachings and practice. But while it might be possible, we are reluctant to allow ourselves the space. It is undeniably a different experience altogether to take a teacher training in a retreat setting. For about the same price, you could extract yourself from your normal environment and be surrounded by nature and the kinds of things that inspire you to connect with something beyond yourself.
In a retreat setting, everything is taken care of for you; i.e., your food, cleaning, accommodation, etc. This enables you to focus entirely on the process of practicing and learning.
At a retreat, you have the unique opportunity to connect with other like-minded people who are on the course with you, making friends for life. Because of the nature of the course – it is an intense month for everyone — your learning is heightened, and the connections you make will also likely be stronger.
Ultimately it is your choice, and sometimes there are circumstances out of our control that negate the possibility of such a retreat. But there is no denying that a 200-hour training course is a life changing experience, whether you plan to teach yoga or not. And the best place for that kind of course is in a retreat setting.
If you’re going to invest in a training, why not invest in the best, in an opportunity for full immersion in practice? Be in it! Truly experience yoga, away from your overflowing life.See more posts
