Centered Yoga is a leader in the field of yoga education and yoga teacher training worldwide.

Since its founding in 1999, Centered Yoga has offered courses for professional yoga teachers, those aspiring to become teachers, and sincere students seeking to delve deeper into their practice and understanding of the contemplative yoga path.

Our basic yoga teacher training program, An Education in Yoga: Foundation Course, is considered one of the most comprehensive in the world. It is also of the highest standard, with a broad scope that encompasses asana, vinyasa, pranayama, yoga philosophy, anatomy and physiology, meditation, chanting, and spiritual practices. Authenticity and integrity are our hallmarks, as we firmly believe that a deep understanding of not only the correct practice, but also its purpose, is essential to produce an effect that is both true and pointed in the right direction.

Centered Yoga holds one-month residential yoga teacher training program at Samahita Retreat, a leading destination for yoga retreats and holidays in Koh Samui, Thailand, along with a number of advanced yoga training courses to advance the student and teacher. Through its founder, Paul Dallaghan, Centered Yoga also conducts other yoga teacher training programs around the world.

Paul has trained one-on-one with noted yogi Sri O.P. Tiwari, master of pranayama and head of the oldest yoga institute, Kaivalyadham. He also received advanced asana training with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, the late master of ashtanga.

Both of these great teachers have personally certified Paul in these practices, a unique position as the only one to receive this double honor.

Centered Yoga is known both in Asia and around the world as one of the most respected and longest-running Yoga Alliance-registered yoga teacher training programs, at both at the 200- and 300-hour levels. In fact, we maintain our own programs and standards to the 1100-hour level. We are proud of our reputation for a high standard of personal practice and learning.

Yoga Teacher Training 200-Hour Course

An Education in Yoga: Foundation Course is the Centered Yoga residential yoga teacher training program, held three times each year at Samahita Retreat. Situated on the beautiful island of Koh Samui, Samahita was recently featured as one of CNN’s Top 10 Wellness Resorts in Asia. Students can take in the beauty of Thailand while deepening their practice and developing their teaching skills.

Pranayama Detail and Practice (Continuing)

This practice of pranayama is part of a living tradition. Paul has learnt the full practice in a special one-to-one capacity over the past 18+ years with Tiwariji. Tiwariji learnt directly from his teacher, Swami Kuvalayananda, who was an adept and highly accomplished in Pranayama and the science of yoga. He was also a devotee and spent time with his teacher, Madhavadas, on the banks of the Narmada river, also being taught this exact practice of Pranayama. In this way it has been passed on very personally and effectively. Such a tradition survives all books as it is only experience that ultimately counts. Over the years of study and introspection in this practice Paul has had the opportunity to better understand it from direct experience and how to help pass it on and help others to practice and teach it better. This course is designed to help you practice more effectively and understand Pranayama techniques to a deeper degree from both the information given and the depth of practice being done in this purpose-built, dedicated environment. Based on this you can improve as a practitioner and teacher. This course does not claim to develop Pranayama teachers but rather to stimulate and increase the foundation and understanding of practice.

This training is focused on the practice of pranayama and will this year offer to those so interested the further practice of kriyas. For most this means getting into the other dhautis and basti. Various options for asana practice are also offered. The afternoon lecture sessions will focus on Gorakhnath’s Siddha siddhantapadhati followed by open discussion and Q&A.

October 7 – 17, 2017 :Philosophy and Practice With Elonne Stockton & Gladys Huang Book Now

Philosophy and Practice

The intention of this course is to offer a practice and philosophy-based advanced/continuing education course (100 hours of continuing education credit) for Mandarin speaking students. Elonne speaks Chinese; some translation will also be provided.

The morning session will be devoted to practice, with a 45-minute pranayama practice and a 30-minute seated meditation and mantra practice. This will be followed by asana practice. Most asana will be Mysore/ Self-Practice with some led classes. If your practice is other than Ashtanga you are still welcome.

The afternoons will focus on philosophy and chanting, looking at specific Yogic and Buddhist texts. And it will conclude with a restorative practice and light breathwork/pranayama.

The evenings will be a mixture of personal time, related videos, and further optional meditation practice.
